A directory that sends people back to your blog
photoblogs.fyi is a people-finder for independent photography blogs. It exists to fix the one thing the open web lost when the big platforms took over: a way to be found. Browse the directory, watch the feed, click a photo — and you land on the photographer's own site, not ours.
Everything here points outward. The feed is one square per recent post; every square links straight to that photo on the photographer's own server, in a new tab. The directory lists real blogs you can follow. We host nothing, we rank nothing, and we keep no one's audience. Traffic and search-engine credit flow to the members — that is the entire job.
The directory lists the SnapSmack network. There are two ways in:
In your admin, open Directory and opt in. It asks for your password and a two-factor code, on purpose — a public listing reflects on the whole network. That's it: you're in the directory and the feed. Delist any time.
Start a SnapSmack photo blog on your own domain and server — your site, your files, your rules — then opt in. It's self-hosted and it's yours to keep. See snapsmack.ca.
Yes. photoblogs.fyi lists the SnapSmack network only. That keeps it a real community of self-hosted, portable sites rather than another feed of accounts someone else owns.
No. Nothing is re-hosted here. The feed hotlinks your thumbnails from your own server, and every link lands the visitor on the photo on your site. We store a link and a thumbnail address — never your images.
Nothing. Listing is free and opt-in. SnapSmack itself is software you host on your own domain.
Newest first, with a light shuffle so no single blog runs back-to-back. Post twenty photos and you get twenty squares — showing up is rewarded — but the quiet blog next to the busy one still gets seen. No engagement ranking, no algorithm burying anyone.
Any time. Delist from your own admin and you're gone — no email, no retention, no "are you sure." It's your site; it was only ever borrowing a spot on the wall.
Not directly — the directory is SnapSmack-only by design. But that's the invitation: bring your photography somewhere you own, and the door's open.
